I’ll try. There was once a written forum rule that threads should not be revived after 45 days. That was way too short. So, they removed any actual reference and left it open to the particular mod or admin to decide if a thread has been dead long enough to just start a new thread on a particular topic. Some threads, actually like this one, doesn’t really have a time relevance to it so I wouldn’t be that interested in closing it if you had answered it with another contribution of an “ugly C3.” However, your post just answering a 3 year old dead post as if the conversation was still going on does not really add to an old thread.
It’s going to be a case by case personal call by the mod. There’s a chance you might not agree with it.
Regarding your other incident, it’s tough to comment without seeing it. That general guideline is, if you are typing, you are taking a risk of someone chewing on you.
Thank-you, but that still doesn't really explain why threads should not be revived, or why they close out if there are people still interested or using them. I was just trying to socialize with my fellow Vette enthusiasts. Is the forum not for socializing, Is there a limited amount of room for threads, does it send too many emails to everyone, or something else? I am seriously not trying to be a smart alec or upset other people, just want to understand why so I can be a better contributor.
yup, I’d much rather ride in a Vette limo than a boring Lincoln
Not me. I had four of these. Sometimes I think I made a mistake selling them and buying the C3. Soooo spacious and comfortable, the most comfortable car I've ever sat in, even the back seat was a pleasure to sit in (my husband tells me one year Playboy magazine rated it the best back seat for "action"). The first one I had was amazingly powerful for 77, it would lay 25-30 feet of rubber. The other three couldn't spin the tires at all. I"m not sure what it was with the motor in that first car, but it was special. I have toyed with the idea of selling the Corvette and buying another one:
Priya,
I remember when this body style first premiered in 1972. My father brought home a brand new triple white MK IV that year. It was absolutely stunning. Especially in the first year with the front bumper as originally designed before the government made all the manufacturers add the "front porch" bumper. These cars looked great and drove great. Only complaint I have is, I think they kept the body style a little too long.

I was referencing the common Lincoln limo compared with the Vette limos pictured here. Those regular Lincoln "boats" were made more for comfort, where as Corvettes were made for fun. I don't see how you can compare the 2: They are nearly complete opposite of each other. You can do things to your Vette to make it more comfortable, buts never going to be anything like your Lincolns.

Yes, I figured you were talking about Lincoln Limos.
I know the two are nearly completely opposite each other, but both appeal to me a great deal and I do find the aesthetic appeal comparable somehow. I fantasized about putting a manual transmission in a Mark V but the clutch pedal and linkage would have been a huge hurdle to overcome. If I had the space and money I'd definitely have both.

Holy cow, is that man who looks like he is 20 yards away, standing next to the passenger door? That almost looks like it could be photoshopped to blow out of proportion. I know the C3 Vette has a long nose, but that front end looks bigger than a complete modern passenger car.

Thanks
Old thread information is often out of date, pictures have been removed from the source, or in the example I gave you, when you answered a statement from 2014 like the conversation was still going on, there's no point to it. We believe its often best to start a current thread.
You could ask the question "are we not socializing?" as a general question for many rules on the forum. I think you might have to understand that most rules are in place for a reason and if you want a lengthy explanation for them, you'll have to do that by PM:
Yep, that's right, someone can take one of these great cars we love so much and turn it into something that may scare small children and make a grown man cry. Playing off of another recent thread about a vette in El Paso I was thinking, why not post some pictures of ugly Corvettes? So I'll start, enjoy!
I think if the horns and tail fins(?) were removed, and painted black with red/yellow flames it would be a cool retro-looking hot rod.

I want to believe you are joking, or being sarcastic.
If I'm wrong I hope you don't correct me, I wouldn't want to believe there are more than one person with such poor taste.

1. BITE your tongue!
2. Go back and re-read every word in your build thread. Remember the sweat, agony, and money you`ve already invested.
3. Go to your room without supper!
