Parking brake handle

Need to replace the seal in the console. Does the plastic part of the handle come off? If not, how do I get the plastic seal over the handle?

Do you mean the slide on the handle that moves in the console?
The slide has a slit on one side that fits around the chrome handle.
You probably will have to remove the console because the slide fits
into a groove in the console. Mine was out when I replaced mine, so
I don't think it is possible to replace with console in place.

I went out and checked mine, it wasn't cut but did have a small notch. I cut it at the notch and got everything put back together.
