Default HRE Wheels on a C3

Take a look at these, I got bored today so I thought I would play around with some HRE's that I have had in storage for years, these are for a 98 Firebird, so the backspacing, etc is not correct. But I decided to "mock them up" just to see what they would look like on a C3. They look better than I envisioned them, but curious to hear other opinions...

PS- HRE doesn't make these anymore, they are "547's". But CCW makes some that look just like them, and look just as good if not better, for half the price....

Thanks, I appreciate that!! I get so many compliments with this car, I originally bought it to fix and sell. But I like it so much I decided to keep it! I even got a compliment today driving it, pretty much everytime I go out, someone rolls down their window and tells me it's nice. I really enjoy it.

Here is CCW's "equivalent" to the HRE wheels shown, they call theirs the "505":

And with all the positive responses it looks like I have made my decision on what to order....

IMHO the CCWs are going to look better on your beautiful blue 'vette than would that particular HRE.

You might also take a look at 5.5" BS out back so that you're not pushing the wheel width out a full inch further than stock, and to possibly consider 8.5" or 9" with 4.5" BS up front. ...pending tire fitments.

Anyway, whatever works out best for you, please to post up with plenty of pics when they're installed, yes?

btw, just rollin around on the forums that is the general consensus is that CCW>HRE and for half the price. HRE are way overrated imho. These particular wheels were on by 98 bird when I bought it used several years ago, I would have never spent that kinda money on rims for any car much less a f-body. But oh well, to each his own...

The 2 tone blue is a great color combination, I love it! Also those wheels look really classy and should give the car a very unique modern look. Just remember to lower it to the proper height after, for it to be perfect.
Please post more pics when it's ready!

John and the crew at CCW make some very nice wheels, that is most likely the best looking wheel for the C5 ever produced.

Looking at the CCW website, I may have some problems. One is getting the backspacing needed for the C3. These wheels are geared more for modern cars. Also, the hybrid (2 piece) wheel only comes in 19 and 20 inch and the prices are HRE prices (high). I know how this forum feels about wheel spacers but that may be the only option I have is to run these wheels with 3-4" spacers. I've heard people discourage the use of spacers for safety reasons. I personally don't have any experience with them.

Spacers or adapters? I run adapters. 3" on the fronts and 2.5" on the rears. It's been a few years now. Plenty of hard turns, miles, and burnouts.

Adapters bolt on the hub and have studs that the wheel bolts on to. Spacers slide over the studs and then your wheels go ontop. Google it.

I think those wheels would look nice on your c3. I've been thinking of picking up an ls1 transam for a daily driver. I just might this weekend if it looks up to par in person.

Good luck.

Yes, I meant adapters not spacers. Adapters sure would save me a ton of money. I'll give it a shot.
