the passenger door on my 72 will not open. The door is stucked locked. You can turn the key about 3/4 way but not enough to unlock it. Can't open from the inside either. Any ideas on how to get it unlocked and the door open?
Found this. Any other ways besides what is in this link?
I spend every weekend doing little projects on my new vette, mostly maintenance items. I spend the week preceding studying everything I can to make the project go smoothly. Don't give up on your car 3's are the coolest!
I got mine unlocked when my key hole lock stopped working by Basically holding the unlock **** to the most it goes towards unlocked and trying to open it from the outside just did it many times. it feels like the more you do it the more likely it is to open. It worked on both sides of car.
Mine locked on me at work like yours did . Not the right way probably , but i bent a welding rod and made a hook on one end . \Then slid it down by the locking mechanism and fished around and pulled the mechanism / bar that unlocks the door .
I'm going to have to go to beddy-bye right now. There are in the archives some detailed instructions on how to get these doors open and how to deal with the problem.....I know....I've written a couple of articles. It's a very common problem.
Maybe someone can steer you to the archived articles. If not, when I return tomorrow, maybe I can try.
Craigs' Notes: Once the door jambs locked...get rid of the latch it if you can...68 owners may have a problem. If i locks you out once, it'll do it again. Last time I knew 69 and up new door latches were still for sale. Buy a new one.
