Default strange crack on passenger side

Hi everyone I noticed the other day when I opened the passenger door that there was a crack where the outside front of the rear fender meets the door jam, and something that was in the crack was like a cement type stuff that had worked its way out, this runs the entire seem, is that a bonding strip or something?? has anyone else had a split there?? and what can I find to fix it??? now when I drive I can notice a strange noise from that side I think its the body flexing but not sure.

Probably factory bonding compound.

...is that a bonding strip or something?...
Yes. The bonding area runs the entire length of the fender at the door. You'll see the same area on the driver's fender.

...what can I find to fix it?...
Clean the area as well as you can and rebond it. Any SMC compatible fiberglass bonding compound will work.

any suggestions, I thought I saw it in a pint like size paint container, but not sure I was looking at the right thing. do you know if any parts stores carry it? instead of having to order it?

do you have to clamp it so it holds together or would you just fill the crack?

It may close up enough on it's own not to need clamps. What you want to ensure is that the fender and door surfaces are flush with each other when viewed from outside the car.

...or would you just fill the crack?...
You will have to open the existing crack wide enough to get new bonding compound between the bonding surfaces (fender and cowl). When the two pieces close back together, a small amount of compound should ooze out sealing the crack for appearance purposes. At the factory, the compound was smoothed in this area by wiping it with a rag with solvent on it. Nothing fancy was involved; just a quick wipe.

If you look at the driver's side, it should look a bit like it was wiped down.

I wonder if the car got hit and or repaired?
Up where the point of the fender meets at the base of the windshield under there is a triangle fender support that is riveted on to the bird cage and has sealer, over time the rivets get loose the sealer dries out and it leaks there...just something to check into.....

the outside surfaces look perfect, it hasn't actually separated, just cracked and the original bonding material has stated to break lose, I think once I clean it out, I filled it with silicone just to stop any moisture from getting in, but the silicone flexes and doesn't really bond to the SMC, and re fill the crack and smooth it out, not sure I can make it look as clean as the drivers side, but I will try . I will post a pic after I clean it out

Can you take a picture and post it? If I am understanding you right, You are describing the front of the right rear quarter where it meets the door jamb. Is this correct? If so. It would be best to post a picture before you do anything.
I am guessing that you are talking about a split starting to show were the rear lower quarter meets the rear upper quarter. Right along the bonding strip.
