Sitting here, 7:30 pm at the Shell Station, where I just coasted in. The dowel pin for the clutch pedal broke in half, just shifting regular like and the clutch pedal flopped to the floor.
Waiting for the tow truck and eating Chinese food to go on the curb.
Well, on the high side, at least you got clear of any traffic, parked safely, AND you get to finish your dinner.
Hell of a way to spend a Thursday night, F22. I'm just happy to read that you and the car, will recover.
It's always something, with these beautiful cars of ours...
Thanks! That's the SECOND time she coasted into the gas station on a breakdown! I actually got the broken half of the dowel, back in the hole of the pedal, but it popped out twice, even being super b careful poo pushing it down. No flashlight, under the dash at night and all by feel. Almost...! But then, just had to call the tow truck.
I swear that b1tch of,a Corvette, named Sassy, wants me to replace every single part of that car. Add the clutch dowel, to the door locks I've got to order now and the speedo gear that's on the way.
Okay...that is bad but you and the car are safe, and it's not a horrible repair in the right place,
When I busted my rear stut on a pot hole, yeah I had 10" wheels and big tires it lead to my car being down like two years.....
RATS! Sorry to hear it snapped......but you didn't
The other high side is......it's N O T a $900 repair!!!
I try to take it in stride, these days. And yes siree, I'm happy it's not a wallet whopper! There ain't a week or two at the most that I'm not buying or repairing something on this car and I've had it for three years! Oh well, at least she's a rowdy little thing.
I have had my 79 for a year. I thinking it's a C3 thing
Don't you fret none, you've got more repairs, I mean expenses, whoops, I mean years ahead of you. Just get use to it and try not too throw the wallet too hard at the car (ask me, how I know this!).

Yep, could've got totally stranded in Vato land, because that's where our shop is, but we find most of the homies are actually pretty good people, tats, scars, and crazy cars!
We had to make room for her! We had the '68 Mustang fastback, drop in last night for electrical and the '55 Chevy the night before. So we crammed my C4, between the '72 Elky and the '55, squeezed the 'stang in and then wedged Sassy in there. Sheesh!
That's my favorite year. Everybody likes the '67, but I like the way the '68 looks, with that little hump across the fastback. We don't even know who owns it! A bud of ours dropped it off, for a friend of his, for us to do the wiring. And get this, it didn't come with a wiring harness, but came with a kit that has just wires and every thing else, like connectors, spades, etc is in a bunch of little bags!
The kit makers state you need a Molex crimpers and believe it or not, John actually had a pair of these OEM style crimpers! I've never seen a pair myself.
But back to the 'stang. The shock towers have been cut out and with those gone, you could easily stuff something bigger in there, but instead, you have a dinky looking, little 289! Oh well, that's the owners choice and we'll respect that. Pretty bitchin custom front Suspension though.
We really like the '55 too. It has a Muncie four speed in it, but when I got on the creeper to inspect underneath, this Chevy had no transmission cross member whatsoever!!! Instead, it has two giant mounts that attach to the bell housing!
Finally, because we live in SoCal, we've got a pretty big Hispanic community and with the guy next door, we're working on these cars too . He paints them and man, he's good. He just got inducted into the Lowrider Hall of Fame and has had many magazine cars. It's not. Our style, but we've grown to like them, because some of them are just plain awesome in execution and creativity!
Total straight out of East LA, '62 Impala, but loved the graphics!
