E68 vert top latches?

Should early 68 convertible top latches have the black rubber grips on the handles or not? Reason I ask is I received 2 with the grip and one without and need to return .....something!

My early Jan 68 build car does not have the rubber grips, just plain chrome.

This may or may not help you. My early 69 has rubber on the rag top latches but no rubber on the hard top latches.

The Judging Guide says chrome early, black plastic late. It does not list a serial number range for "late."

I re-chromed the 70 latches. Pull the latch down, and use an Xacto blade to cut a line on the non-flat side of the latch handle...the rubber coating slips right off. After chroming, you can slide it back on and no one will notice.
