I have read some very incredible threads on electrical issues and I think I am making some progress but for each step forward I have to take a couple of steps back due to new discoveries.
I am trying to determine why my battery warning light stays dimly lit. Thanks to a previous thread I was able to determine my alternator had a bad diode and it appeared a short in the windings. I replaced the alternator and now the battery and charging system read ok but I still have the dim battery light with engine running, full bright with key in run position and engine off.
Searching around the fuse block I found the horn relay fried. So I'll pick up a new one today. Then I realized both horns are missing. Found the wiring in the front end but no horns.
Also discovered the wire harness to both Power Door Locks has been completely cut in half within the door. Heck of a way to solve a problem. I'll try splicing them back together after I finish wrestling with my first two issues and see what transpires.
One step at a time and you will get there.
Sounds like your making progress, but post up if you have problems, I have been through most of the electrics on my 81

Thanks Sixfooter. I bought two basket cases from the same guy. My '64 required a frame off but the hacking of the '81's electrical is unbelievable.
