1968 L79 327 manifold question
Was the exhaust manifold on the 327 350hp the same 2 inch one that was on the regular 327 300hp? ...or was it 2.5 inches?
Thanks!

I believe the 68's all used 2.5" pipe. Others will chime in.

No SBC C3 came with a 2.5" manifold. All were 2" AFAIK. Casting numbers for both SBCs in '68 were 3872765 LH and 3872778 RH.

I thought that the 427's were though?

And they all work I assume? So I could buy a repopped exhaust manifold from Ecklers or Paragon for a 1963 - 1967 327 that is 2.5 inches and bolt it right on then?

I have no idea. Do you have an exhaust system with a 2.5" inlet?
I think you're wasting time and money. GM stopped producing 2.5" manifolds for a reason. Even the LT-! didn't use them.

I just figured it was a cost issue for GM. Won't 2.5 inch manifolds open up the back pressure for mor HP? Like headers would...

...if you're going to use your stock '68 alternator configuration, be sure any C2 ones you might buy are like the '68. Not sure if any C2 2.5" manifolds had that '68 alternator set-up for the bottom bolt? Maybe '67s did?
