Default New 77 Corvette

Hi Everyone, bought a 77 Corvette a few months ago and have been lurking around the forums. Lots of good info on here and have especially enjoyed the restoration threads. Figured it was time to create an account.

Sorry for the long first post but wanted to get some feedback and ideas.

Attached are some pictures, paid 7,500 for it. Not sure if I overpaid or not, but very happy with it so far, that is all that matters so worth it to me. Has the manual 4 speed transmission, speedo not working but estimated to have 130k miles. Runs and drives pretty good, interior in really good shape. Doesn't appear to have any rust issues.

Know problems so far:
  • Needs new paint (Cracking, but looks good unless your up close)
  • Power Steering was leaking (This was my first project on it, replaced the entire system with new parts.)
  • Emergency brake not working
  • Speedometer was not working. (Gauge tested fine, replaced cable and gear on outside of transmission and still a no go. Must be the gear inside the tranny? In holding pattern on this one)
  • Transmission shifting issues, my biggest issue. very hard to get out of reverse. Have to play with it and use force to get it in neutral. Also sometimes miss the gear when shifting especially 2nd gear. Also have to push the clutch pedal all the way down for it to engage. (bought a shifter linkage rebuild kit, hopefully that will help?)
  • Needs new tires (planning to get wider tires 255/60/15)
  • The rest are minor things, like small oil leak

Also added Dougs headers and pipes and chambered exhaust inserts. Currently waiting on rebuild kit for clutch z bar and coolant temp sensor that I broke to finish that project. Also replaced plugs, wires, cap, and rotor.

Any comments would be appreciated. Especially on the transmission problems, as I am not sure what the problem is. Any other obvious things to check and replace on a car you just purchased?
