Great boards here. I'm new to the C3 world and I hope somebody can advise me on how to improve the sound quality in my C3CE without having to install an amp and subwoofer.
Can somebody please tell me why the sound quality is so "tinny"? The previous owner installed a nice Kenwood stereo with all new speakers. The rear speakers are kenwood 6x9s and installed behind the rear grills. The magnet of the speaker is too deep and the installation is not exactly factory but it is pretty close. The dash speakers look new and have a tweeter. But the overall sound quality sounds like junk. It has no base even after I adjust the new radio.
I checked around I keep getting told the only way to fix this is to install a subwoofer and amp. Lots of $$$. What I don't understand is the quality of the sound in my daily drivers (f250 or Honda Accord) is just great. All factory, no additional equipment. I'm not an audiophile. I'm just trying to create quality sound in my 82 CE.
I like the design done by Hardway in a post from two years back. Is this all i need to do? Any ideas?
Sounds to Me ( no pun intended ) that something might be wired wrong with the speakers . I do have an Amp & Subs in my 82 ..... but using just the 6X9s in the rear and 4x6s in dash i have a good , crisp sound . Everything is Sony , not that it matters , lol ....
Try to find the paperwork for the stereo head , to make sure everything is wired up A-OK
Thanks for the info. I will check out the connections. Others advised the sound is poor because the speakers have no enclosure around them. Any suggestion on that?
The radio might have high pass crossovers for the front and rear channels. try to turn them off for the rear speakers otherwise you won't be able to get any bass out of the them. Some radios you can't turn them off because they assume you will be using a subwoofer to take care of the lows.
