I'm thinking about buying this 81 this week, just trying to get some opinion's and thoughts on this car
25,660 documented miles. Clean carfax, a few recent maintenance records and the original window sticker.
5.7 L V8 with automatic transmission.
Factory options include: Power door lock, power driver seat, rear window defogger, electric remote sport mirrors, cruise control, aluminum wheels, factory electric tuned stereo radio with CB & 8 Track player.
Awesome cond.......really looks garaged since new .
I just don't like the two tones at all. So maybe it's just me , but I'd pass because of the paint scheme .
Don't know if that paint helps or hurts the price.
Too bad , it isn't an original black car in that cond.
Hope nobody ....molests it . It looks like a museum piece.
I don't like most two tones, but this color combo catches my eye. I wouldn't think there are that many with this color combo..... I'm with you on too bad it isn't an original black car.
Not a huge fan of two tone paint either, but it seems to work well with that car.
Car looks exceptional..price comparisons should be of cars in comparable condition (which in this case, could be a hard thing to do).
I have another question if anyone could help.......
I'm looking at numbers of the two tone cars made in 1981 and from what I come up with is that there was 5713 two tone cars made in 1981 which 5352 of those cars came from the St. Louis plant. So I come up with 361 cars were two tone from the Bowling Green plant in 1981 and this car is a Bowling Green car. ???
Two toned paint figures are not completely known. Almost all of them were at Bowling Green. I would be hesitant to attempt to limit the combination to only 361 cars.

Thanks for shedding some light on that one Mike, I just assumed all two-tone paint schemes were a Bowling Green only feature. I've never seen a two-tone car that didn't show as having Kentucky heritage.
According to Corvette Black Book:
VIN# 1G1AY8764BS400001 THRU 1G1AY8764BS431611 are St. Louis
VIN# 1G1AY8764B5100001 THRU 1G1AY8764B5108995 are B. Green
Consider offering them $10k and don't go over $14.5, providing they throw in the car cover, and other accys. A car that was this nicely babied was certainly endowed with toys. Make it a package deal.
And, make sure you love it. A car in that apparent condition will be a welcome family member for a long time to come. Be sure to Google the recent CNN article "9 Reasons Why We're Revved by The Corvette". (http://www.cnn.com/2013/06/30/us/ire...ary/index.html) The accurate article callis it all out except for "#10" that you get to relive your days as a kid every time you get behind the wheel. Also, be prepared for minor doctors bills - your face gets chronically sore. From smiling so much.
p.s. you will love the cloth seats. I know, the leather smells great and all that - almost all of my cars/trucks have had leather. But, cloth seats on a late model C3 are far (far) more comfortable in hot weather and long drives than leather, and also far more durable. Your wife will like them too - happy wife, happy life. Mine (`82) still look great after 32 years.

This will be my seventh Corvette, and they always make me smile. I bought the car and will be delivered tomorrow. I wished I could have bought this car for under 14.5
