Default 1978 Corvette - Brakes

Hi everyone. I recently purchased a 1978 corvette. It needs new brakes (everything including lines) + a master cyclinder. Any recommendations about which kind to get?

Genuine GM. All the aftermarket providers carry GM calipers which have been stainless steel sleeved. Lip seal or o-ring is up to you.

I have done this many times and agree with the above. For a stock car nothing like the rebuilt GM SS sleeved calipers. I have an 80 coming Into my garage tomorrow that needs a whole new brake system. Ordered from VB the entire kit.

All C3 Corvettes are 4 wheel disc brakes. Yes there are some upgrades but honestly the stock ones perform just about as good as most of the upgrades unless you go racing. Then it gets expensive. I have Wilwood calipers and drilled and slotted rotors and they stop about the same as the stockers. They look cooler

If you weren't aware that your car has disk and not drum brakes, how do you know which parts are broken and need to be replaced?

Just to clear up what Easy Mike said, most rebuilt aftermarket GM calipers have been stainless sleeved? This one came from the ZONE. Curious because I have one on the car from PO, looks brand new but I dont know if it's sleeved and don't really want to pull it apart. Thanks.
