Seems like your going the long way on this... This resistor should solve your issue with any temp sender.

Hmm - just saw you were using Arduino. I recall a map function i.e. map(value, fromLow, fromHigh, toLow, toHigh) that might be helpful when divining the code to use. IIRC, it rounds to integers so fractional values are rounded up or down. So, for instance, if you know what the high and low values that drive the analog gauge, you could map the actual values from the sender (high/low) to these values.
