why not a 68?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder... With that said, I have a 68. I love it. Being a first run, with a lot of one only type parts... I can be a PITA sometimes. But, for someone to tell you a 68 is "not a worthy year"... well... everyone's entitled to their opinion. I think they're worthy. Chevrolet definitely improved some things real quick like with the following years production runs. But it's a keeper for me!

The difficult chore of finding those "one year only" parts doesn`t bother me, as I`ve done it before with other cars. I`d think any car collector who builds "rare" cars would`ve gone through it at some point.
I can also see where, for some, building a "mainstream" collector car with a bazillion available parts would be easier, but I don`t think that would qualify those other cars as "un-worthy".
(OK, now y`all can pounce to let me know the 68 Vette is not really "rare"!)

The best part is the push button door mechanism. I like the look and how no one can figure out how to open the door!

Biggest issue in one year only parts is that repro parts are more difficult to find. And when they do come out, quality is hit and miss due to small production numbers. I found that in the wiper door mechanism and turn switch.

I was watching and waiting for a thread like this from you, Wolfrano02. Sure enough, here it is; a controversial, in-your-face, kind of thread, designed to **** somebody off. I saw it coming, based on not only what you post, but your comments as well
So let's See what we can expect from you:
"1974-1975 are these Vettes as gutless as their owners?"
"Only a fool , would want the '78-'82 bubblebacks"
"Why does the '73 only look half good?"
"Do the '82 TBI cars, really suck, that badly?".
There, I already have done half your job for you, just being yourself here, is the other half of that job, which is why are you working so hard at stirring up things and being an __________?

Old myths die hard Love my 68. I had a very nice 69 that I sold recently. There was virtually no difference in quality and I chose to keep the 68 just because I love it's unique features.

Love the 68
Love the 68:
generally a little cheaper than a 69. but...
just like a 69 mostly...
love the unique push button door handle, no Stingray badge, key in the dash, last 327 available, separate backup lights, the LARGE steering wheel, 2 card deck holders in the console, where is the map pocket? or the interior door pulls? and where to add oil? LOL's, rear interior quarter panel light, and....
the priceless look of the cute girl at the inspection station trying to figure out how to get the door open!!!

Please accept my apologies if I hurt someone with my thread and comments, the thread about 68 's is just an idea that pop up,based on what I have read not to put 68's down.
I own a 74 and I also heard commentaries from hemming motors that 74's are not a good year ether but I really careless what a guy says because it is only his opinion.
I'm here in the forum to have a good time and learn about our historical cars and nothing else.
