Morning all,

I need a favor please. Could someone please take a measurement for me of their 70-72 Stingray.

I need the height of a 70-72 Stingray coupe from the ground to the highest point on the roof line.

I'm planning to add a 70-72 Coupe to my corvette stable along with a four post lift to my garage. I need to make sure I have enough clearance to the bottom of a garage door with a Vette stacked on the lift and one underneath.

Thanks!

So.....you're gonna' stack 'em!

Waskely Wabbit!

Google says approx. 48" floor to roof top.

(You can shorten the length of the ceiling supports on the garage rails to gain more clearance)

Adding a new car - sounds like fun.

A couple things to keep in mind, from my own experience:
1. You need to allow for a few inches more than just the height of the car plus the thickness of the lift's ramps. Add for the travel past the stops, as you need to raise the car higher than it will rest so that you can catch the safety stops.
2. Make sure you either consider the height of your antenna mast, or be sure to remove the mast each time you raise the car.
3. As has already been suggested here, you can get more usable ceiling clearance by raising the door, when lifted, tighter against the ceiling. There are a couple of ways to do this. Might depend on how tall your door opening is. My door is 8' tall, therefore, I only had to change the 24" track radius to a 36" radius, and now my door lifts to within 8" of the ceiling. Considering a 2" thick door, I lose a total of 10" in height from the ceiling for my door. I have a friend that has a 7' tall door and he had to add a section to the top of his door. This allows the 24" radius track to be retained and still ride high against the ceiling.

BTW, I just measured my car's (convertible with soft top on/up) height and it shows approx 48", agreeing with the GOOGLE suggestion above. I have stock suspension and OEM style tires and wheels, therefore, it should be consistent with factory.

Hope this helps...

Thanks for the quick assist guys!

redrdstr72: I had thought about extending the upward travel of the door if I needed more room -made more sense then playing the "squeeze" game.

I'll keep you all posted on my decision on which lift and which shark car I purchase.

I wont, I'll end up taking it off so a cover will slide over the body.

Here's my set up.
They can set either way with my convertible on top or Z06 on top.

I did modify my door a little. I raised the door motor as close to the ceiling, this gave me more room for the front of the car clearance.
The only bad thing is I can only have the cars stacked in the backed in position. It's never bothered me to do it this way.
Hope this helps you a little.

Thanks, this does help me. I already know I will have to extend the door travel up a few inches. I'll have to raise the door motor up as well. I will also have to move a display cabinet to the back wall and put a full size fridge down in the media room.
I'll post an image and list the dimensions I have to work with. -Thanks again for the image. Is your rig bolted to the garage floor?

Hi 69mako,
No sir the lift is not bolted down. I've used this lift extensively and it's not moved one bit. I love this lift. It's save my back and knees from wearing out.

Here is my setup. I lifted the garage door so it hugs the ceiling. The clearance is tight but I have had all years of C3 Vettes under and over each other. The door will go up and down with both Vettes in there.
