My wife drives a 2009 Camry every day and has started talking about stepping up to something a little more upscale. She needs a sedan for the grandkids and we use the car for any road trips we take. The problem is she's become loyal to the Toyota brand because, honestly the Camry has been bulletproof. 6 years and 115K in, it has cost zero dollars to run this car, other than oil changes and I've put brakes all around. No repairs at all, so she's talking another Camry. Does anyone have any experience with Lexus? That's the upscale Toyota brand, correct? Are they as reliable as the Toyotas? We're at a point where we can afford to step up a little but, man, that Camry has been excellent to us!

The Lexus is every bit as reliable as the Toyota. Made by the same company.
I agree on the Avalon. My wife bought one new in 2007. Virtually trouble free for 135,000 miles and still going strong. Luxury ride and the 268 horse V6 is surprisingly quick. Most C3's would have a tough time keeping up with it 32 mpg on the highway.
Yeah.
The ugly truth is that many modern cars can run with, or even from, sports cars of the past.
"They don't make them like that anymore", and there's a good reason for it.
Sad to say.
This is Corvette Forum. Why don't you look for a Toyota Forum? Probably doesn't exist because Toyotas are appliances. People who drive them have no interest in cars.
Hard to beat a Camry for reliability, we have quite a few in our fleet where I work and they've been great cars. Truthfully though, the Ford Fusions(last body style) have been just as or even more reliable than the Camrys. That being said, I'll give one more vote for the Avalon, my parents have one(hey, face the facts, its a old persons car) and it is very relaxing car to drive, quiet, comfortable and all the options available on the Lexus for less money, cant go wrong. Not my cup of tea(about as exciting as a microwave) but cant argue with the facts.

Yes, again. The typical Toyota driver says he loves his car. But only because it gives him no trouble. Probably loves his refrigerator the same way.
Part B of that is, take a look around at an auto show or a classic car auction. Sixty out of a hundred cars are GM, 25 are Fords, 9 or 10 are Mopars, and maybe you'll see a few Europeans. You will not see a rice burner, I'll bet.
Designer Imagines A Corvette That Looks More Like a Corvette Than the Corvette
