Default Intermittent wiper question

Ok, so my wipers weren't working on my 79. I found that the intermittent controller module was bad, so I bypassed it, and now have hi/low wipers.

However, I'm not getting 12 volts to the line for the washer (that I unplugged from the controller box) when I press on the wiper switch, so the bypass for that isn't working.

From what I understand, when the int wipers were added to these cars, the wiper fuse was removed, and another plug/inline fuse inserted, with the wires running to the controller box. My car has the wiper fuse installed, and I don't see a plug that would replace it. Does anyone have a pic of that connector/inline fuse connected to the fuse block? Or am I confused about how these were wired?

BTW, I verified that the washer switch was working after I took the whole switch apart and cleaned it.

Pretty sure that was ONLY 1978.

My 79 shop manual still references the fuse being removed (but that probably doesn't mean it's a sure thing), and the 79 does have blade style fuses, so the plug would have to look a little different also. The more I look at the schematic - the way the jumper fixed the wipers, even with the fuse in place, it makes more sense that the schematic is wrong, and the controller was wired in properly using the fuse in the fuse block.

When I was looking at the schematic, I also noticed that the wire I thought should have 12 volts with the switch pressed is actually grounded with the switch pressed, so I should have been looking for 12 volts with the switch off. I tried that, though, and still not getting anything (but a burned out washer pump could cause that too). Guess it's time to pull the washer tank/pump....

(anyone ever notice that typing this stuff into a post sometimes seems to help straighten it out in your head, and it almost answers itself? )

Well it's only nine years later.....and actually Ebay answered my question. Yes Ebay. I was looking at parts and came across a c3 delay wiper motor. It looked like mine only the cover on the motor was different and had this little pink wire coming out of it. This apparently is a switch that tells the delay module what position the wipers are in. I also found out the delay cars had a slightly different wiring harness on them. So after swapping the covers and splicing a wire into the white wire of the delay module.....I now have pulse wipers. It only took nine years.

I guess I'm a little slow....

Yes, that cover MUST be there for the delay wipers to work. It sends an electrical to the control unit when the wipers are at their low point--the control then shuts pauses the motor. Those covers are no longer made.
