NCRS this year in Lakeland Florida
I didn't go to Turkey run so I could go to NCRS which was moved to Lakeland this year, I think in many ways it will be far better than Old Town...aside from loosing the night cruise.
I mostly putz around the swap meet but was curious who else plans to be there...

I just got the confirmation for my spaces by email yesterday. I know my space numbers, but I'm not exactly sure where they are, since the layout's all new. I'll be in spaces 295-298, where ever that may be. I have a map of the swap meet and grounds, but the spaces aren't numbered on it, so it's not real helpful.
I think the facilities will be better, but the access to hotels and food, isn't going to be anywhere near as good as Old Town was. It's not that it's any worse than Carlisle, Knoxville, Bloomington, or any other large show, it's just that we got spoiled by the convenience of everything at Old Town.
You want to know something Bats, I was in Flippers Pizza on the Saturday night of the Winter Regional, a couple years ago, with 4 or 5 friends. I think you were sitting out front (waiting for the cruise?), but by the time we finished up and I came out, you had moved on.
I don't think I'll have anything your looking for, since I'm pretty much stuck in the stock original world, but please stop by and say hi anyway!

I'm going. I need to get some motivation to get back in the garage and get my beast back on the road. Lakeland sure makes it easier for me coming out of Tampa.
Bats: I've been following a couple of your threads; would love to meet up and say 'hey' maybe have a cold one.

Something to be said for the intimacy the Old Town venue provides versus the expansive space adopted to "grow" a show. GB, your example above illustrates how well Old Town presented these rather, unique opportunities to network. In contrast, the big shows require square miles to accommodate show requirements and support amenitie such as food and lodging.
Just got a note that there are no registrations for either the 73-77 and 78-82 classes for Lakefield this year. These classes at both NCRS and BG have been combined for judging purposes in recent years due to declining numbers.

Bats !! I will be there most likely every day, because I live about ten min. from the airport. Last year the biggest problem about oldtown is parking. That is not going to be that way here. Maybe I will run in to you there.

I live 30 minutes from Old Town been going since it was opened, at one time I was the only cruiser allowed to have a car there in primer, ( my custom 66 black primer )
I have seen the sat night cruise go from being so great to so bad to well, there was a time you couldn't count how many c3's would show up, now just a couple if it's a great night.
Old Town has been hurting for a while now, stores have changed from more related themes to the import dollar store flea market junk, I heard many rides are gone and that they are in or near bankruptcy, I will miss the cruise the night of the NCRS weekend.
That area behind Fun world next to the back of Old Town was sold or whatever but the "people" who would use it to try to profit from people parking at Old town were horrible, they would talk nasty to anyone and just ruined the mood,
That area was important for the NCRS show and it wasn't available for whatever reason,
I understand that Old Town being in the near center of Mouse land and tourist ville made lodging and other things far easier for many who traveled to the NCRS meet.

Could have been, I don't blend, and we LOVE Flippers pizza,
I will pop by and say "hi" and I do need many stock parts in fact my tastes have gone from really radical to mild custom old school rode race feel,
I hope to get to put a face to the profiles of lots of you cats,
As it gets closer and I know what day and time we are going I will post it here,
My number is 407-496-8334 for texting...

Bats, I'm pretty sure there was a "No Admittance" poster at Old Towne with your picture on it last year.
Maybe I was mistaken...

You're subscribing to unsubstantiated rumors I don't have to listen to these wild allegations,
Um..well, Ahem...they said I can go this year but they will keep an eye on me...they dont want me trying to sway any purists to the dark side...

I will be out there also I also just got my space confirmation info. Definitely going to miss the old town location. The new location is about a two hr drive each way.

I have heard stories of such things taking place. Now that I know they are not myths, I might give it a try....just look for a black/paint-chipped/scratched-up/wrong-bumper convertible with a squirrelly-eyed vet driving it.........
(When did you say the event started)
with a bad memory.

We live in collegepark close to down town orlando, Kissimmee is about 20-25 miles from us then Lakeland is about 60 from us, the spots themselves will vary a little... so it's about 45 miles Kissimmee to lakeland...

I meant coming from New Smyrna Beach each way its 2 hrs not from Kissimmee. From old town its about 45 min.

hey guys.. Is there a list of vendors for the Lakeland show? I have a 58 hardtop and need the glass reset with a new seal and I've seen where the vendors offer services at some of the bigger meets such as Carlisle. Would be nice to bring it there to save the hassle of crating and shipping costs. thanks ! Steve

Nobody lost their senses in the first place. The rules never required non-participants to sign up or pay anything. Somebody really got the wrong end of the stick on that post.

1. NCRS members that participate in the events - register and pay full fees.
2. NCRS members that do not participate in any of the events - $5 PER DAY fee, no participation in any events.
3. Non-NCRS members - no fees to look at show cars / sway meet area.
Is that correct?
