Default Driver side mirror flops down at freeway speed - any fixes?

My '73 vert driver side mirror is a new one, less that a year old, but has worked itself loose so it flops down at speeds over 60mph. Does anyone know a method to tighten it, or stop the flop? It is the rectangular shape mirror not a round one.

Only thing I am aware of is to remove the glass and the tighten up the attachment point inside. Way want to do a search as this has been discussed a lot on the forum.

Quick fix is to put some loctite screw lock in the ball joint of the mirror and rotate it around then set mirror where you want it. If you keep readjusting the mirror you will have to re do the loctite. Bubba maybe, but worked for me. Don't use the stronger version loctites. Permatex and others make versions of the same stuff.

I more or less followed the instructions I found in the forum and they worked for me - let the mirror sit in gasoline over night and the glass was loose, broke a washer in half and wedged it between the metal strip and the mirror head under the rivet (used a screwdriver to pry the metal strip up), JB weld to hold it in place, removed all the old silicon in the mirror head and reapplied new black silicon, put the glass in and lightly applied pressure with vice grips around a towel overnight, and it worked perfectly. I actually used this method to put my dated mirror glass in a nice new chrome mirror head.

There is a really good write-up on the forum that describes the repairs. I did it to mine and it worked great. Typically soak them in gas, once the glass is off use a thin piece of shim stock to tighten up the pivot area, JBweld it in and re-silicone the glass to the mirror head. Mine hold really well for over 5 years now.
