Painting dash parts

I used a light coat of vaseline over my letters during prime; and paint. SEM Trim Black. Then gently wiped/scraped off after painting. Worked well to remove paint with a very slight bit of acetone.
That was some time ago.

Looks Great Alan,
As I have learned from this forum, there are a lot of different ways to make our 40 year old cars look better and run better. The main point is that we are enjoying the journey.

Mr. LRB or any one else.
What type paint / brand are you using to spray on these trim pieces.
I've used three different black paints and I still have trouble removing the tape off the trim once the paint is dried.
The paint is not hard and seems soft and pulls off the metal.
Any suggestions?
Alan suggested Krylon 1613 black, but I thought paint was discontinued.
I have to put this paint work on the back burner for a few days.
Thanks for the help.

GPGG70,
I can tell you what I did and I am happy with my results. I put the parts under some flood lights to help the drying process and when they were dry to the touch I used an x-acto knife to go around all the edges first. I had no issues with paint pulling up, I think the knife helped.
So people like the vaseline process to get clean edges.
I used the Krylon that you and get at Walmart. Satin. I also put a primer down first.
Lot's of different ways of getting it done.

I'll try the krylon paint. I also laid down a thin coat of primer to prevent any fish eyes.
I'll try to paint it again next week.
Thanks.

When I did mine I just sprayed them with Krylon without taping anything off and no primer. Once dry I used a soft cloth with lacquer thinner and removed the paint where I wanted the chrome to show.
Much easier than trying to get things all taped off.
