I was iffy about replacing my old original carpets in my early 76. They have the deluxe dark smoke grey cut pile carpets that unfortunately had a heater core leak that wasn't addressed by the previous (first) owner.
I ordered a set of front carpets from ACC but they are not 100% accurate. The originals have a tan heel pad where the new ones have grey.
How big of a deal is this? I know it depends but I thought they would be 100% faithful in their reproduction.
I agree with Mike, the heel pad always matched the carpet color. Odds are that your heel pad has faded/changed color with age. I've actually seen other gray plastic parts, that have turned to a tan or brown color.
door panels for my mid year from al suck, don't fit right and to thick ... no al for me ever again, this was a problem when I bought them and he refused to address or replace them
So strange that they fade with age and not just Sunlight UV. This is an original 23k garage kept car and yet interior parts still faded.
I love the look of a restored as it came from the factory vette, but there is something about the mottled colors and survivor look that's pretty appealing as well.

Contact ACC. I had the passenger side carpet that had thin cut pile next
to the door. I contacted them and they replaced the passenger side carpet
after I sent pictures of the spot.
Really nice people and didn't even want me to send the bad carpet back.
I would think that the heal pad should match the color of the carpet though.
