First Vette? Want it back?
You can only have one first, true enough? And I like my 75 plenty (my first vette). Great cruiser. But I'm thinking about picking up a 1970 coupe, which has always been my dream.
If I get her, and restore her, I'm not really going to want the 75. Though the 75 is an auto and the 70 is a stick, they just won't be different enough to justify having both.
But I'm a little worried about getting rid of my first and thinking afterward that it was better in some way.
I'll certainly keep the 75 until the 70 is done or close, but after that I don't really have room for 2.
Two questions then: What was your first vette? (Pics are great) and Did you improve after that, or was the grass not really greener?
I bought a Porsche Boxster a few years back, 2010-ish and kept it for a short while. I loved the car, but we had too many "fun cars" and got our first glimpse of adult responsibility (new dog) so having 4 2-seaters and a regular cab truck stopped making sense.
Fast forward a few years and I decided to sell my 2009 Z06 to get a house. The Z was mostly paid off and interest rates were good, so I picked up a 2006 Cayman S to replace the 2003 Boxster. I do not miss the original Boxster at all, other than its condition being a bit nicer than the Cayman.
I miss the first Corvette I bought for myself as well (a 2002 coupe, still my avatar pic that's mostly due to laziness). But it's just an occasional thing, that quickly passes.
I really enjoyed the car, some good memories, used it as my daily driver.
Sure, I'd like to have it back, but not enough to go out searching for it.
No regrets.

Now my first car , '70 Chevelle , yes I did regret selling it ....but was lucky enough to be able to buy it back a few years ago ..

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts

My first corvette, like you, was a '75. Loved that car. My family loved that car. A 1969 corvette has always been my dream, and after I acquired my '69, I found that love for the '75 seemed to fade. The EFE, EGR, all that mess around the higher optioned L82 sporting 205 HP was just not very intriguing to me. My rubber bumpers cracked and split.
I sold the '75 a mere 4 months ago, and I don't regret it yet!
Now to where our stories are different. I'm not married and have a 2 car garage, so storing 2 isn't an issue. At some point I may be accountable to another person, but for now I have the best of both worlds. If that day were to come I would sell my 70 coupe before selling my dads 73. I think your first vette will always be special and likely something you would regret at some point.
Me headed to junior prom spring 96. Easy with the hair jokes!

Another at senior prom 97.

Both together this fall. (click for video)

But that won't be possible thanks to an *******.
It was an automatic and when I found out the ins. co. totaled it I new my next Vette was going to be a 4 speed. I bought my '73 L82 4 speed which looks exactly like Crafty12's in 1978 and still love it every time I climb in it. A local body shop bought the wrecked '68 and did a terrible job repairing it so no I would not want it back.

I tried tracking it down a couple of times over the years without much success. So, a week ago I trailered home this reasonable facsimile:
I'm going to do it up pretty much the same way as my first one was.
I have owned c3's from all generations, even 2 81's,
My first c3 was a 72 bb stick convertible, it was around 80-81, the car was a hot, loud beast, I was late teens and loved it, I could drop the rag top at a light,
The car started to need lots of work and in a act of stupidity I swapped it for what should have been a sweet car a 1982 Camaro pace car...what a poorly built pos,

soon I swapped that for my first 81 what a refined and regal creature compared to my 72, I put over 100K on that 81 rebuilt it ground up with a wide body kit.

But that 81 wasn't the 72 which I kept missing, I would make one car mistake after another, I always had a kit car in the background they were cheap,
At one point I had an 68 vette that made me hate c4's and even a custom 66 vette daily driver I loved but still nothing was like that 72,
Around 08 my wife suggests I sell all the yard art and buy the one car I desire,
I find my 69 convertible in 09, LOVE it!
Would I want my 72 back?...No, the 69 is basically the same car but in better shape.
In your case your 75 isn't all "that" different to a 70, okay the stick will give the 70 an antique fun feel to it, that gets old in traffic,
If you wanted a convertible I would say you would never regret loosing the 75 and getting a 70 but do you just want it for the chrome bumpers?
One right idea you have is own both for a while, then you will answer your own question which you dig better....
