Hi does any one no the difference between a 75 to 79 vette bumper and other c3 ones.
I purchased one for a 75 from Ecklers for a 75 and no way would it fi t, contacted Ecklers and they don't seem to want to discuss it , they seem to think I am having a go at them which is far from the truth . When bolted up has a huge gap in the middle and over hangs on sides, I am thinking somewhere it has had a new front clip maybe a 73 or 74 and that,s why the 75 does not fit .
the shape of the pointy bit in middle seems much different .at least 1 inch gap when bolted on ends.
I did not expect just bolt up but would need major cut and shape to get any where near and if it was a urethane one no way you could do it . Hope someone can tell me diff between these model for future reference
thanks in advance for any help Ian from Australia
cant work out how to put pic on here
but do you no the difference between years on the bars I am thinking its the shape of front v where it come to point
ian
The bumper and nose in your pictures, are both correct for a 75 Corvette. The 73-74 nose comes to a point in the center, between the headlights. The flat inset area on your nose, is not there on 73-74's.
Fiberglass bumpers usually need a little massaging, to get them to fit, but we're talking fractions of an inch, not anything like what your experiencing. The problem may be partly attributable to the bumper, but I think the problems go deeper. I'm guessing that the car has had some nose work done on it, by someone who didn't know what they were doing.
How did the old bumper fit, or didn't it have a bumper? If it didn't, now you know why!
yes I sent Ecklers pic they don't seem interested also sent them to there tech dept and they said it all looks ok that they just need a little work no 2 cars are the same.this is so far out it crazy.
Yes it had a bumper on it which the restorer repaired and it fitted ok just had damage on corner from shipping to Australia in container.
this is now after repair
Happy with repair just want to no why that front did not fit for future reference and because now the repairer is stuck with it as eckers wont take it back
Start going up through the management chain. They all have a boss. You may find someone who is willing to help. It looks like your car was repaired at a body shop, a word from their manager to Eckler could be helpfull.......

Thanks for every one interest more than I got from them even after sending pic they say it looks good just need little mods to make it fit .What a joke
J&D Corvettes in Bellflower, Ca has a substantial business selling fiberglass replacement bumpers for these cars. They sell their replacement bumpers to Corvette vendors and also replace them in house if you can drive your car to their shop. I'm pretty sure their body shop manager will be able to answer your questions for whatever year you have. Their body shop was featured in Vette Magazine a month or so ago.
If you're still interested, I can send you his personal email address.
