Default E-Brake cable bracket relocation

After trawling through the 18" wheel thread I have narrowed my new rear wheel/tyre combo for my 79 down to an 18" x 9.5" with 5.25BS wheel with a 285/40 R18 tyre.

I am unsure if this will require the relocation of the E-Brake cable bracket, but if I do can someone who has done this please post a photo of where the bracket was relocated to?

I don't have a photo, but you will be able to see where a good relocation point will be once the new wheel/tire is installed.....

Just be sure to cut off the E-cable bracket first before installing the new wheel so you don't puncture the sidewall of the tire.

(I think the bracket goes on top of the trailing arm/not sure though )

Use the existing cable to set the distance along the top (put the cable on and the clip and pull it pretty tight, tack and then remove the cable and weld)

A slight bit of revival but I'd like a little more info. What part do you pull on to make it tight? The bracket itself? Also, should I do this with the brake shoes adjust all the way back in?

Thanks!

Pull on the bracket when it's clipped to the cable

As for the shoe adjustment when locating, depends on where your cable adjustment is set I guess. Where the main cable comes back under the car from the handle there is a long threaded end that has the clevis piece that hooks to the cross over cable that goes to each wheel. As long as you are not at the end of the adjustment there (cables stretched type of thing) your shoes only need to be close (I didn't try to apply the brakes or anything when locating the brackets, only took the slack out of the cables)

Once welded, use the cable adjustment and the star wheel to set the brake shoes properly.

Great! This is what I was wondering. My main cable is original and seems to be stretched out because I'm all the way tightened up underneath where it attaches to the cross cable. Plus my shoes are adjusted pretty far out themselves in order for the brakes to pull enough to keep the car stopped. So with this in mind, I should probably adjust my shoes all the way in, then stretch the cable, correct?

I'd set the star wheel on the pads correct (tight minus 6 notches type of thing) then try putting your main cable adjustment in between the middle and the too-loose end of the thread. pull the cables pretty tight and tack the brackets in place, try the brake and make sure it's close (you still have 3/4 of the thread for adjustment) and if it looks good, weld it full.
That way of you ever change the cable to a non-stretched on, there is still some room to back the adjustment off to release the pads too.
