Default another SIDEPIPE question?

I am currently investigating sidepipes for my C3. One brand (HH) seems to be more popular and pricier than other brands (Doug's, Patriot, Hedman). Is the extra money worth it. I noticed some brands make their pipes with 16 gauge instead of 18 gauge like the more popular brand uses. I want to spend my money on a quality product, not just a popular name brand. Your thoughts are greatly appreciated.

I have Hookers and like them. I always thought Doug's was supposed to be a good product but have no first hand experience.

I have Hooker Stainless steel I love them!! I have not tried the others What I do not like about OBX is that you can see the welds on the pipes as they come to the collector. Just does not look clean in my opinion.

I'm also a hooker fan, had them on a few cars. Never tried anything else. I'm sure there is some tweaking on any brand you buy. Welcome to aftermarket.

Default pipes

Thanks for the reply. I was always leaning towards the stainless steel. Another question for you. What inserts did you install? I'm leaving towards sts baffles or flow max.

I have had my Hooker stainless steel side pipes for 6 years and they still look and sound good. My only complaint with side pipes, is water on the roads, just a little makes a mess on them. OH and for some reason they get a little gold color but they clean up easily with a chrome polish like semi chrome.

GOLD! My Harley stainless pipes don't turn gold unless I go faster than 90MPH

I'm running ceramic coated Doug's headers and side pipes. Nothing cheap about them. They are well made, look great and with the coating don't get screaming hot.

I wish they'd offer ceramic coated shields, to match the pipes, with no lettering.

OBX here SS, and have no complaints, love em was the best decision. would have loved to go with hookers but the price was the biggest decision as to not, and since most of the hookers are no longer actually made in the US anymore didn't mind going with the OBX

I found a company that might do it called Power Portal

http://powerportalproducts.com/products/

They sell them a few different ways and one option is powder coating. I was thinking about getting a set in black to go with the exterior of my car but I've never had problem with them getting overly hot so I never got around to it.

I went with Doug's excellent fit and didn't have to cut rocker moldings.

I love my Hookers!

In addition to the NOS set that's going back on my shark, I've decided to hang onto the old set just for dyno duty.
