At least from the videos, I wouldn't have guessed you were running any at all...what were you running? What do you plan to run?

Great point! When running the SBC were you using a typical roadrace pan?

"trying to develop a couple of new pieces for the chassis/suspension."
Interesting! Should I ask?

"It is pretty amazing how capable a stock-framed, bolt-on C2 or C3 can be"
That's why it's great to see guys like yourself actually doing what you're doing. It's one thing to think about, but I'm sure quite another from your perspective

I was using spiral mufflers in the side pipes, and they are ALL restrictive. I had a custom set of 3" purforated tube mufflers made that are wrapped in steel wool. They work MUCH better and the noise is about the same as the spirals. Yes, it is loud, but believe it or not, without the mufflers it is MUCH louder and more piercing. In order to have power in a side pipe muffler , it is going to be loud. There is not enough capacity to balance noise and make power in a 4"side pipe tube. But I love side pipes, so........I picked up 7-8 mph at the dragstrip with the new mufflers

When I ran the SBC, it had the Canton 15-240 pan with the M55a pump. standard volume , high pressure. The current LS engine has the C5 Z06 batwing, which would be fine if the engine was not routinely above 6500 rpm.

Zora made these cars to have the snot knocked out of them. I cant help if most want to just wax them . Sometimes I struggle with the L88 flares and hood, all of the mods I have done, but if Zora were still here, he would walk by a pile of Bloomington certified cars to look at cars like Brians and mine.....he was a RACER !! I have all the OE parts to the car since it has been in the family for 42 years now, but they will not be put back on by me ....

Again, great info here and thanks again for your contribution!

It's great to know that such a high performance level can be had in these old cars using parts and combinations obtainable by mortals. Your experience, your opinions and simply knowing what's working for you are a huge help to the entire group!

EDIT: Really regretting the less than eloquent name I chose for this thread...

v/r,
Rob
