You want the one made by Mustalgia, it mounts into the stock gas lid screw locations. The one shown will require drilling into the deck lid.
The Mustalgia one does not replace the stock gas cap, you reach through it to remove the stock gas cap.
Mustalgia is out of stock..

First, thank you so much for your interest in our products and secondly, I sincerely apologize for the delay in being able to supply the caps.
I am in the process of changing the foundry which casts the fuel cap lids and base rings. The die casting foundry who initially cast my parts can no longer run parts in the size die my parts require. The good news is that I have secured another casting facility, transferred my molds to them, visited them and worked out the details and am now waiting on sample parts for testing. I expect those parts within the upcoming two weeks. I will then machine and buff/polish and fit the caps to ensure that everything meets specs and then initiate a full order of parts from the casting facility. When I recieve them I will machine, polish, and assemble and be ready to ship units out. As you can see, it is a long process and I again apologize for the delay. I know many of you were trying to get the caps and be ready for this show season.
I totally understand if some of you no longer wish to purchase a cap due to the delay. However, if you are still interested, I will update you on the progress and let you know what and when to expect parts availability.
To sum it up, yes, we will be providing the LeMans caps hopefully far into the future
Thank you,

I love these things, pricey but look so cool,
A few years ago I bought a proto type from a member and his looked IMHO so much better than the one Mustalgia because with the Mustalgia I have seen the hole for your finger to open the old stock lid is still there and makes the cooling Le mans cap look like a tacked on afterthought,
With mine the base plate covers the finger hole which is how Ecklers was back when they sold these for c3-4's
Now when my car comes back I have a new idea, since these caps are functional but only in that they hide the stock cap, I want to mount the base of my le mans cap to the hinge of the stock gas trap door, ( stock door removed ) then it will open the whole area, like the trap door did, and I do not have to shove my hand down a hole to undo a 69 stock cap that is large, did any of that make sense?
In other words I am replacing the trap door with le mans cap assembly,
The other thing is the AC Cobra Le mans caps can be had in a import version that are cheap yet look just as good as the 300-400 ones....

Go to post # 68. Not a deal breaker there is also one from classic auto..... lemans for corvette but its more than double the price 300+ the speedway one is about 120 I believe.
Those Lemans style caps are really cool. But the only thing I don't like is that they sit to high. My plan is going to be going with one of these when I start on the rear of my Vette.

That has been a popular mods on vettes since it came out....
It has a more old school custom look to me the lemans has a road race look, depends which the builder desires...the both look sweet...

Love that cap, but I'd like to have the matching car to go with it...

Hey Bats, is 'the hinge of the stock gas trap door' sturdy enough to hold your Le Mans cap?
I looked at the Cobra style caps but looked to big so went with a European cap, about 90 U.S.
Just cut out the gas lid to fit the dia of the new cap.
You can either lift this and take off your regular gas cap or get one of the quick fill caps with the spring loaded door.

Looks great...
Mod, why not just open trap door ( orginal gas lid ) with lemans cap on it?
Sadly the spring loaded caps are not made for the early tanks....
I am still messing with attaching my lemans cap to the original door hinge hardware, looks like early hinge will fit better.

When I start doing body mods, a charger cap is on the list... but apparently I wasn't 'thinking out side the box' as much as I thought I was...

However, I'm glad to know I won't necessarily be burned at the stake for doing it

I'm thinkng about making some more and taking them to Carlisle.
Nick you have my attention also what is the plate you have under yours? Kevin
I basically have a plate that sits on top of the existing bodywork, so it hides the finger cut out. Have done a number of styles over the last 10 years, in aluminum and carbon fiber, even using non le mans gas caps and I can make them fully functional (i.e. no regular gas cap underneath)
