It ran a best time of 14.68 @ 92 mph. And that's about all she'll do, with the current set up, which is the L48, with the L98 aluminum heads. But that's still pretty fast for a street car. It's running 3.50 gears in the rear as well. A fellow racer with a '69 Camaro taught me, how to work the lights and I promptly red lighted the next three times! The first time, I missed a perfect light by -0.019! The second time was -0.013!
Before that, it was 0.332, then 0.229 reaction times and that's how I got the holeshot on the Charger! He had a 0.768 reaction, to my 0.229! I did a total of six runs and it was so much fun! I had the only C3 there and there was one C2 there. In today's world of easy horsepower with the newer cars,14's don't sound that fast, but when you're slamming it into fourth, fifty feet from the finish line, at 90 mph plus, you're definitely hauling ***!
PS: ,Thanks, Tom for keeping your '74 BB Convertible, DBM! She'll love you for it. And a thanks to Postal 123 too, for the kudos. Remember boys and girls, it's not how fast it goes, it's how it goes fast!
Next month, this is going to be next phase of the engine mods, we're going to do to Sassy. These are the new Promaxx Maxx series heads that they just came out with recently (PN 9183). They are supposed to flow, really well and come with 2.02 intakes (versus the 1.94's on the L98 or the ZZ4 heads). They are also hand finished and blended. They are set up for BOTH the Vortec manifold and the regular SBC style manifold AND both Center Bolt valve covers and regular SBC valve covers.
And...after we install the heads and test them out, we're going with this:
We picked this set up for $100! All it needs are the nozzles and the switches. Also have to buy a NHRA legal Purge kit as well. This is going to be a 'take our time' install, no hurry.
We're hoping to get into the 13's with the new heads and then, into the 12's with the NOS. We're going with the smallest shot possible, which is an extra 100 horsepower. Interestingly enough, the actuator switch is located on the carb linkage and you set it up, to actuate at full throttle!
