I bought Flowmaster Exhaust Systems - 817695 for my 69. First line in instructions say you need extra part numbers. Called flowmaster and was told system is for cars with headers. Told the guy that is not what any of the websites state. Went back and forthwith the guy and he hung up on me. Worst customer service call I have ever had.

Stainlessworks has a complete manifold back system in SS or aluminized and is mandrel bent. I still have my Flowmaster exhaust and would use it if I could find a SS mandrel bent front pipe or SS header for my L-36.

Why not cut in a set of Flowmasters into your currently installed system?

Here is the deal on Flowmaster mufflers the lower the number the loader the exhaust system sounds the 50 Series will almost sound like a stock muffler. If your looking for mufflers that sound good at throttle and quiet down at speed than I would suggest the Flowmaster Super 40 Series Delta Flow mufflers which I currently have installed on my 1977 Corvette. They are pretty quiet once I hit and level out on speed. Make lots of noise when I take off and under throttle response but can barely hear them when at cruising speeds. If that is what your not looking for than I would suggest the orginal 40 Series Mufflers which will give you deep sound at all speeds. The Delta Flow are designed to give sound at throttle response and quiet down at speed.

look at this chart and it explains the sound from Mild to Aggressive

I talked to "Allen's Stainless Exhaust today. They have complete systems, pipes and mufflers. They have the off road mufflers also. Can buy in stainless or aluminized. The guy I talked with will sell me the front pipe with an extension. I verified this weekend that FM system will not bolt up to stock front pipe. The xpipe does not fit through crossmember.

Flowmaster 50's do not sound like a stock muffler - at all. We run 2 1/2" pipe (no crossover) and Flowmaster 50 Delta Flows - love them. Nice deep sound, absolutely no resonating in the car at highway speeds, and they are pretty loud under throttle.

This video is accurate to the sound of our '77 with 50's on it. Many of the exhaust videos on YouTube don't represent things well due to the poor quality mics on most video cameras.

I will say - this guy needs to work on his carb a little
