Default New stingray

Hey guys, I'm new here and just looking for a little insight for my new project 75 Vette. A little history on how I came about the car first.

In 2009 I was in Iraq and I came across a street l legal sand rail minus motor for 500 bucks. I got ahold of the guy, sent him a deposit and upon arrival home I went and picked it up. Well soon after that life got busy, I got married and it got thrown onto the back burner, never to really get any more attention. Last summer i was online and came across someone looking for a sand rail frame. We struck a deal and when he came to pick it up his step dad told me he had a corvette he wanted to get rid of. Well I went and checked out the car and we couldn't come to a deal at the time.

In October a buddy of mine just bought a house and it was getting cold. He told me he would sell me his jeep for 950 bucks. It was lifted 20" with a built 350, ATD reverse manual valve body 700r4, Dana 60s... Enough gearing it had twisted the front axel and the transfer case in half. I had the cash so I got the jeep. Low and behold the kid who got the sand rail said his step dad was looking for a jeep. I contacted him and traded him the 89 jeep for his 75 L48 corvette.

The car needs paint pretty bad. The paint is pealing almost everywhere. But it only has 64k on it and is said to run and drive. Hopefully this weekend I can get it off the trailer and running. The car appears to be in great shape besides the paint and cracked windshield. The car is a 75 according to the Vin and title. But in all my searching I only see the bright green color option for 75. My car however is dark green. I didn't get to check the paint code yet because it's -21 degrees here and i don't feel like unloading the car so I can open the door. Until tonight I assumed the paint was original because it's the same color under the door panels and everywhere else trim covers it. But when I noticed no dark green color listed for 75 I began to wonder. See 76s with the same color paint. Is it possible I have a car that it's a 75 with a 76 color option? I don't know much about corvettes, this is my first one. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks, Jerry

As you can see the hood and t tops have been stripped and primered. There is minor damage on the front passenger side fender by the bumper. But that's my 950 dollar corvette.

I think when you check the trim tag you will see it's been painted at some point.

Not likely too be a factory color.

That's what I figured too. But I began to question it when I saw the same color 75 for sale online as all orignal paint. I will check it this weekend. It's 32 degrees below zero right now so it can stay happy on the trailer while I stay inside. In the picture it shows up like blue, but it is a dark green.

Have fun with your new car.

The correct color is.........a paint booth away!

It's good to hear you made it back (in spite of the Politics).

Is the L48 automatic a TH 400 or did they put 350s in them too?

Congrats on the new car. I also just got a 1975 C3. Mine was also painted a different color from the original color.

If I am not mistaken it should have the TH 400. the '75 only had two engine choices check your Vin 5th digit
"J": is the 165HP L48
"T" is the 205HP L82

BTW welcome to the madness!!! enjoy your new toy.

My research shows the 1975 C3 came with the TH400. 74% of all C3's that year were auto (TH400).

Welcome to Corvette addiction; this is the right place for information and moral support!

From your description of the temperature and the snow on your car it sounds like you must be from the great white north eh. When it thaws out be sure to post up more pictures of your new toy!
