Default 1972 Steering Column Coil Spring - Horn Assembly

Hi guys, I am trying to figure out how to keep the spring inside the steering column from hitting the middle column bar. Does the spring just sit and press up against the plate or is it connected to it in some way. I have the tilt and tele steering column and every time the steering wheel compresses in the spring will move and make a contact on the column and I have to take the steering wheel off again and fix it. I can not find a photo of how this should be assembled properly and was wondering if any of you guys have some photos of how this connects. I will attach a photo to this so you can see what I am talking about. I hope someone can give me some guidance on this annoying issue!

Thanks!!

Go back to the C3 Tech Section and look up this posting:
Steering column plastic horn ring/bezel??
rajin cajin

It was active today.
You need a plastic c-clip retainer. Yours is missing. It will hold the spring central and prevent the spring from contacting metal steering column parts. There is even a thread from Willcox Corvette that provides a link to purchase the needed part. A photo in the posting also shows the retainer in place.
