Sunvisor retainer install?

Sunvisor retainer install?
Is there a trick on installing the retainer clip and spring for the sunvisors? It looks like you should be able to push the retainer down over the sunvisor stud but I can not get the clips to hold.

Make sure your holding the sunvisor up against the hole from below while your pressing down.

Push the sunvisor screw into the hole from below, from the top place the screw in and then sit the retainer clip on the spring. Get a size 8 or smaller socket that will fit inside the hole with the spring. Press down on it or attach a wrench to it and push it in the hole until the retainer clip pushes itself down on the sunvisor screw with the spring compressed.
Make sure your holding the sunvisor up against the hole from below while your pressing down.

When I say screw I mean the threaded rod on the end of the sun visor . The spring sits around it and the retainer lock washer compresses the spring down and locks itself into the threaded rod. You have to take the plastic silver cap off to see inside the support. My corvette is in the shop but I'll see if I can take pics of you havnt got it yet

You don't say what year you are working on. This helped when I worked on my 78 (it did take some downward pressure to get that clip to hold IIRC):

You don't say what year you are working on. This helped when I worked on my 78 (it did take some downward pressure to get that clip to hold IIRC):
