Yes, the gray wires bring power to the bulbs and must be connected to the bezel to work.
The bezel picks up the ground from the black wire connected to the water temp gauge, the other end of that black wire connects to the "A: pillar just above the bottom of the dash. (Called Harness ground).

THANK you for that diagram! I have pictures, that I took, but this helps! Got the dash speakers out, new installed and wired. Next is re-wiring the new stereo
And I gave up on trying to insulate everything. In fact the dyna liner and I had a fist fight. The carpet had a lot of insulation so it should be good to go. Plus I have a great hook up for R12!
