Default 1978 seats

Can anyone help, I have a 1978 corvette and the seats are terrible, the adjustment screw nuts broke off , I rewelded them and they broke again, the welding was done by a professional so I know the welds were good, it is only the drivers side seat, am I missing something or are the seats just crap, also does any one know of a replacement seat I can use , there (as you know ) is not a lot of room for aftermarket seats.
Thanks

are you missing any bumpers or other parts that could be overstressing the adjuster?

There is a "screw in piece" in the seat portion and the back portion.

If the seat frames are good weld on another nut, but get a different welder. If the frames a bit soft there is a "stiffening kit" (for lack of a better name) that can be bought. Barring that, cut out the thin metal and weld in some 1/8" plate steel and nuts to fit the adjusters.

Have a pic of your seats?

Im 220lbs and I know the seats are fragile. I don't drop into mine, but kind of slide in.

the reinforcement piece description describes my drivers seat . "permanently reclined" just got my car the end of last year and haven't really had a chance to look at it close yet. just been using a folded up towel shoved behind the seat. I did adjust the seat to not lean back so far and when I sat down - bam . my wife was
