Patina Corvettes
Here's my 71 LT1 with 35 year old paint, not too much Patina, it is what it is!

I think next winter it will be time to paint it

made it in the Corvette Central Calendar and the Rock Auto Xmas card :-)

1972 Ontario Orange 350/4 speed. Original paint. Currently has 50,000 miles, but this was taken in Reeds Bay in Hilo, Hawaii back in 2007. Car had roughly 40,000 miles.

In Texas back in 2011. Still original paint. Sadly in late 2013, the car was wrecked and it lost it's original paint and no accident record.

Original interior. (minus console armrest and floor mats)

One of many sad things about the wreck is that the car had such great original paint.

Now, the repaint.

Patina and then some. Had been in a front end wreck at one point, non-Factory front end replacement with a lot of little ripples in the fiberglass and no front end emblem. 82' Tail piece, no emblem there either and I designed the hood grills to let out some of the heat, while it's parked.
We're trying to get along with the 'entity' that she brought with her, to our shop...
It looks better than it does! Of course, it's going to show the wear marks and cracks, but overall, it's shiny and she earned that patina. Years of waiting in garages, side yards, back yards, front yards, car ports (where I found her).

The little bitch is haunted too, no kidding. Some may laugh, but too many bizarre and unexplained incidents have happened with her in the Shop. I connected with her, like I was wired, just coming across her in a CL ad , and had looked at thousands of Corvettes. The nano second I saw her, I knew instantly, that, that was my Corvette. It was a spooky felt conversation, through the ether; "I know you"... I know you too! I heard, deep down in my brain, not words, but the instant knowledge that she's going to be a rowdy little hitch of a car, that will excite the crap out of me and leave me shaking.
She came through on that promise too, right off the bat. That tired looking four speed, '74, left my shop partners hands shaking when he took her out. There are guys like you, who know what she is, just by looking at her and I was lucky enough to be one of them, when the ad popped up.
Makes me feel sorry for Bulldog chap, in another thread, who's gone through 27 Corvettes, getting them, fixing them and getting rid of them. I hope one day, he runs into HIS Corvette! I've got mine.

37 years sure did eat up the flares tho.
