82 engine vin
Hi everyone:
I'm doing some work on a '82 I bought 16 or 17 years ago. The previous owner supplied me with paperwork that sort of indicated the engine had been replaced. Some critical info was blacked out in these papers-such as the cars VIN. Now that I have time (retired) I want to find the VIN on the engine. Can anybody give me the exact location of the engine VIN? Thanks everyone!

For original cars, the VIN derivative was stamped beneath or along side the engine ID code stamped on the block. Depending upon model year, there will be a pad on the block at the front of the right head, or a pad near the water pump.
If the engine has been replaced, there is not likely to be a VIN derivative stamp.
If the engine has been replaced, there is not likely to be a VIN derivative stamp.
