Default 68 vert decision

I bought this 68 convertible a few months ago with the intent of either building it original(depending on what I find in the boxes I got with it) or doing a 5.3/4L60 swap and pro-touring it. I had some issues come up with my 70 Camaro this past week that are going to really hurt my budget on the vette. My quandary is twofold; sell it as-is and hope for a return on my cash or just sit on it for now and hope my budget will handle the new Camaro parts AND the corvette. The chassis on the convertible is ALL done and rolling(still needs brakes etc but have everything for that) but the body hasn't been started as of yet. At this point I'm not even sure what the thing is worth...... I just know what I put in to it thinking I'd be able to get some things done to it this summer. Sucks but as of now, the Camaro gets first dibs since it's entered in no less than 7 events throughout the southeast in the next few months and now surgery is eminent! What to do..........

If you don't need the money back from the Vette purchase to fix the Camero, and have room to keep it then hold on to the Vette. Keeping the dream alive is oh so important. It's what makes us tick.

Funny I was thinking of how much easier it is to build a Camaro compared to a vette this morning!!!! Having built many steel GM cars...

These cars are way more complicated with the vacuum things, conv top stuff, birdcage issues, dash wiring and gauges...it goes on and on. Less room for everything in the chassis for drivetrain etc. Try fixing the rear end if it has a problem...more added grief. Then if you want show quality paint and bodywork.... Bigger bucks for fiberglass.

If your car came w 4 spd it has a non removable trans crossmember

Project creep, unknowns become reality and add up$$$

You seem to have a lot on your plate now....good luck

I'm lucky on this one since the chassis is already done. Windshield frame/partial birdcage has been done too. All the crap you have to go through with a corvette to keep it original is what makes me lean more pro touring. I can wire it, fire it and drive it a lot easier that way and probably enjoy it more. A purist vette owner I'll never function well as! I can probably sell the original 327/4spd for what it will cost me for a 5.3/4L60 combo to a purest.........lol
