Default 1981 AC removal

Just wanted to get a few opinions and then advice if available ?
I am restoring a 81 and I don't intend on driving around with AC on! Not that the 81 is a sought after year but if I remove the compressor and lines, cap where needed and hold on to the parts for later install is the car still worth the same? That said I don't intend on selling anytime soon. Any advice on how to remove and cap lines?
Thanks,

Before you get too far along, it's against the law to vent R12 into the atmosphere. If you decide to remove the AC, take it to an automotive AC shop and have them evacuate the R12 before you start unbolting things.

Are you removing the equipment just because you wont use it or that you dont like how it looks? Once you start taking all that out, its going to stay out. Is that the look you are going for? You dont have to remove it to not use it.

How much modification do you plan to do?

I think some of that depends on where you live. I know here in Florida AC is a must. It does affect the price some here in FL because of that. How much on a C3? Not sure, but I would think it would narrow your field of buyers. If I were looking at a car with the AC parts missing or removed but with the sale I would plan on having to buy all new parts - regardless if the seller says "It was working when I removed it" - if that were the case, then why did you remove it? Just my $.02.

Thanks,
Sawzall!!! I just removed the last of my old AC system.I figure who needs it when I pretty much only drive it with the tops off and if in the future I need AC I will install a modern working unit by Vintage Air that does not require the evap in the engine bay that also opens the space up quite a bit too!
