Default Weatherstripping.

I have a 76 corvette that i just changed the tops weatherstripping on. It was a pretty straight forward job, but now my windows have a gap on both driver and passenger sides. How do I fix this. Should I add some kind of putty under the weatherstripping or did I not buy the right kind in the first place. I ordered my stripping from Corvette Canada for that year of car.

Can't anyone give me some idea what I need to do. The windows work perfect and go all the way to the top, but it seems the rubber weatherstripping doesnt come down far enough.

Welcome to the world of aftermarket weatherstripping !!! You need to be carefull who you buy the weatherstripping from. The products from China generally do not fit very well. I just installed new weatherstripping from "Corvette Rubber" on my 68 roadster. Perfect fit. Their product I understand is made in the U.S. Sound like you need to start that over again. Hope this helps and good luck. Tom.

I'll have to keep them in mind when I get to that point. They are about an hour away from our cottage. Might see if I can check out the operation and check on a local guy discount lol.

To keep from wasting the new weatherstrip........Are there removable brackets that hold the weatherstripping in place...if so remove them and add strips of flat rubber sheeting the correct thicknes.....reinstall the brackets to make the weatherstrip seal well.

************There are also adjusting tabs in the two window channels that will allow you to raise the window more than it does now...but you have to remove the doorpanel to find them--it might be worth the effort

Thanks, We have adjusted the windows already but before I waste
money buying new stripping I will try lifting the brackets.
