Default Australian needs help in identifying part

I have a 1980 C3 with a part located on the firewall directly in front of the driver. It had a vacuum tube on one side and a two pin plug on the other. Could you please look at the photo and let me know what it is, what it does and if it is required. Any assistance appreciated.
Regards Mark

Default Queensland compliance plate

Each state has different rules how this is done, however the initial inspection are similar. Hope this answers you questions.

In addition to my last question. Does a 80 corvette with a A/C have an electric fan fitted as well?

All 80s have factory air; it was standard. The auxiliary electric fan was part of the L-82 options package.

So how and when does the aux fan turn on/off?
Thank you,

The electric fan uses a temperature switch at the rear of the passenger's side head. 79 and 80 L-82s had the fans; all 81s and 82s have the fans.

Easy Mike,
I am in the states starting in Charleston and doing route 66 after visiting the corvette museum. Could you recommend where I could get the fan, temp switch and brackets anywhere along my route. I can also organize a mailing address along the route. Another question to draw on your expertise is where can I also pick up a intermittent wiper control. I can explain what my fault is if you like.
Regards
Mark

I have been to the Route 66 Museum in Kingman, Arizona. This might be a good place to have parts sent to. Send them an e-mail to see if they might be able to hold the parts for you.

If that does not work then I might be able to work with the Realtor that I am using in Kingman. Send me a PM if that might work for you.
We are moving to Kingman as soon as our house sells.

Mark,

A very good place for Chevrolet parts is Connell Chevrolet at 2828 Harbor Blvd in Costa Mesa California. They have been selling parts to Australia for decades now and ask for Aaron Hardy or John Russell. Phone # 714-755-5303. If they don't have the specific parts you want, they can send them to Queensland once you've paid for them.

Regards from Down Under.

Thanks for the info, we are travelling to Effingham tomorrow to make another attempt at my list;
1. cruise control diaphragm, bracket and linkage
2. wiper intermittent control module
3. aux fan brackets, wiring and sensor
4. passenger vanity mirror in claret
5. rebuild kit for both window slides
6. after market t top bag,
7. new Perspex speedo / tacho cover

I will try craigslist and the forum with my list for the next two weeks which will give me another six weeks to plan with vendors on the west coast. Once gain thanks for the tip the 80 corvette is rarer here than I would have thought.
Regards
