Without breaking the emblem and messing up the button!
I have a new doeskin button ring. I want to install an emblem that I bought (need a retainer).
What is best practice for putting this together? I tried using a punch and hammer once before and managed to crack the emblem plastic AND messing up the ring. I need to put the three items together snugly so that when I tap the punch with the light hammer (I assume hammer), things don't go flying (they did last time).
Just use a phillips head screw driver and twist and push it lightly, all you need to do is spread the metal out slightly to hold the plastic piece down. Worked for me.
A guy at Trim parts told me people use a drill bit turned around in a drill and to go slow. What it does is it turns down the little hollow pipe to make it look like a rivet head.
