Default Lifting for storage.

So, can I get a definitive answer weather it is Ok to lift the the car off the ground for storage. Primarily to prevent flat spots. Some say its fine and to do it. Others say the hole car will turn in to a pile of steaming horse poop if its done. So whits the skinny on that? Cheers.

Just leave it on the ground, your new tires will be fine after 6 months of sitting......trust me.

It usually is a 5 to 6 month hibernation. Brian nailed it, my new tires got me all jerky.

During my recent 5 month storage, I took advice and pumped the tires up to 45-50 psi. Zero flat spots, tires are perfect.

Haha. Yeah. I wouldn't be concerned with 5-6 months. But it is possible I guess, depending on climate. I'm no tire expert, but I did work for a large tire company for quite some time. Basically what I've gathered is... the newer the tire, the more resistant it is to reshaping.

If you do leave it on stands, just make sure the car is supported as close to the hubs as possible. Supporting from the center for prolonged periods could cause some unwanted flexing.

Cheers

I leave mine on the floor 7 to 8 months a year . 5 pounds of extra air and never had a problem for many years.
