I bought a new Mr. gasket Clearview Fuel Filter and I wondering if I can install the filter in a vertical position? Does it matter if its vertical or horizontal? TIA. The directions does not mention anything about which way to install, so I am guessing its OK either way. But, I just want to make sure, only want to do this once.
Concur. POS fuel filters are nothing but trouble for a multitude of reasons.
I have a POS Mr. Gasket which is NOT the "clear" version and the plating on the inside of it has been flaking off and screwing up my float valves. Real pain in the rear.
The "clear" version is considerably more brittle and prone to cracking. Many fuel fires started with those silly things.
Suggest paying the freight and getting a nice billet unit. I'm picking mine up now and installing with push-lock and #6 fittings. Easy to take apart and zero risk of leakage or other issues. I'm just over $50 which includes the necessary fittings.
If you want to go "simple", just get the disposible opaque nylon deals. Just replace it each time you have occasion to service the fuel system.
All that said, I don't think there is much of a difference whether it is installed flat or vertical.
