Default Radiator shroud for 74

So I was replacing a faulty brake caliper when I noticed that the radiator had a slight leak. Rosalie (corvette) had been sitting in storage over the winter which may have been the reason for both leaks... So I decided to take a closer look at the radiator, upon closer inspection over years there had been corrosion on the bottom of the radiator so I decided to take take it out and get her rebuilt to the original standard of copper and brass. Well this is the this is the part that will probably make your shake your head in disapproval.. I read the manual instructions on the removal of the radiator by removing the bolts for the shroud and laying it over the fan. Doing this made for it to be in the way and I could not remove the remove the radiator, so I decided to remove the fan and pull out the shroud. I gave it a hard tug and snapped the larger portion of the shroud in half! The bolts poking out from the upper control arm were in the way. Darn... Anyone got any good pointers for this novice? Need less to say anyone have a radiator shroud laying around or for a good price? Thanks

Two ways I know of to get it out.
1) Take the hood off. unbolt the radiator support and pull it forward.
2) Take the upper control arm shafts off.

I did my 73 a little while ago and took the upper shafts off because I didn't have anyone around to help me with the hood. Piece of cake for me. Took about 30 minutes. Not something for the novice though.

Hi Dave I have a 74 with a 454 and I have been down this road I already had the hood off and I read the Chilton manual and the Hanyes manual and I still couldnt get it out without takin the mounting frame for the rad out. Its very easy to do this way but the manuals dont seem to see it that way. Another reason why I rely on this forum

I did the same as Roozster. Only I unbolted and removed the fan. Unbolted upper A-frame on drivers side opposite lower radiator hose. (supporting lower A-frame with floor jack) Didn't want to remove hood either but was able to snake it outa there. Never put it back. Went with electric fans instead
