Side Pipe Muffler Idea
Ninety bucks for an insert? REALLY?

How about this?

What's left is to fabricate circular end plates for the muffler tube, tack weld them on, and there you are.
With about $125+ left for gas.

I like your fix...a lot....many years ago I had a buddy do the same with thrush glass packs into header side pipes he had on a camaro,
I wish I could tune the tone of my side pipes....
Thanks. I was pleasantly surprised on how snug the fiberglass wrapped tube fit, without any end plates. Reminded me of how I used to clean my shotgun.

That's right: Narrow 4" Electrical boxes for the front plates.
The rears were 3 1/2" boxes.

They're really a tight fit in there, with all the fiberglass packed in there. My guess is they're really gonna quiet down the 383. Which would be great for highway driving. We'll find out.

Then went with a 4" to 3" Reducer,

..to match the 3" plumbing to these Blackjack Headers.

Although I haven't actually tried to fit them yet, I'm concerned about header clearance issues with the steering box. Anyone have problems there?
TIA.
