Default 79 manual Speedo cable routing

I had a TKO installed in my 79 but the speedometer readings are off over 50 or 60. The cable routing wraps under the steering column and in front of the pedals. The bend seems a little tight. I have had problems like this where a slight side load on the cable will cause error. Since I did did not put the transmission I do not know how the old cable was routed. Can anyone show me a pick of how it is routed? The Assy Manual was not much help.

Do you have cruise control on the car. If so there are 2 cables for the speedo.

1. from the dash speedo to the cruise control module
2. from the cruise control module to the transmission.

Inside the transmission is a gear that needs to be matched based on the tire size and rear axle ratio. It may have the wrong gear in the transmission for your setup.

the routing of the speedo cable from the dash to the cruise control is very close to the clutch pedal. It will run near the left side of the pedal arm. It should not touch but it will be very close. It runs on the left side of the column above the steering column.

This is from my 78. I have a T56 magnum installed.

It is on the drives side now and comes in the side of the bump the brake vacuum assist mounts to.

ok, so you need a cable from an auto transmission car. Was the car originally a 4 speed?

It was a 4 BW super T-10. The bends look tight under the dash. The cable has plenty of slack. Took a long drive with the GPS for a speed reading this weekend. It is reading 3 or 4 mph off under 45 mph and 8 or 9 above 60.
I going play with the routing and go up a tooth and see how that works out.
