Computers?-Really sort of bulletproof these days- will even tune the car for you. If you haven't noticed most cars these days are seeing over 200K-and only having to opening the hood to change the oil.
I like the LSx - It's a great motor- You couldn't beat it for reliability & performance-which for older engines that's THE trade off.
Everybody is doing them- so yes- It does make me yawn -Heck, even my daily driver has one.
Let's face it-At every car show/event- when you start talking HP- somebody's brother- cousin- buddy-will always have more HP!
I wanted something unique as well-
Fuel injection w/ individual throttle bodies...wanted coil on plug...all aluminum block and heads....
I thought more cylinders would be cool-

An LS engine is boring and common, but they can't be beat for power and fuel economy. It's not an engine where you want to raise your hood at a car show, but I'm into driving, not show. If I were to start from scratch today building an engine for my '71, I would probably start with an LQ9.
I'd be pretty proud to show this LS motor at any car show. As a matter of fact it has won awards. Hardly a common motor. Looks better than any Gen1 SB. 600 RWHP 427 LS7. If done right I think the LS is a better looking motor than most.

I like lifting the hood on my L-48 car and having my 400ci small block not raise much attention.

I'm not sure if you were responding to me, but if you were - what I meant to say was "with an LS motor, you can hide the coil packs vs a G1 setup, where you are forced to deal with a distributor and 8 snakes of wires coming out". (I'm aware that you can install a distributorless setup for G1s, but with LSs COP comes for free...)
