Default Engine code help

Looking at a 73 and want to know where to find out if it is the block the car came with. The number stamped on the Rh fwd side of the block is
V0509CLA.
It would be great to know and even better to know where to find it. I have been to many site and know V= Flint 0509= May 9th but cannot find CLA

I believe CLA is an L48 with a TH400 transmission. There should be a VIN derivative next to the Flint stamping which would "match" the motor to the car.

Here is a site that will show you the suffix CLA. Appears it was used in 73,74 & 77. So confirming the partial vin on the stamp pad should do it.

There should also be a VIN derivitive stamped there (1S35xxxxx) in smaller characters than the engine code. Take another look at the pad.
