Default 76 vette fuel line replacement

Hi guys. Im new to the site and just bought my first vette a 76 f4om my brother in law. My question is this. My brother in law replaced the fuel line from the tank to the engine with rubber hose. I am changing that asap. Has anyone used braided flexible line for that. It is body on resto. Thx

You say he replaced it with a "rubber hose" but it was likely internal braided fuel hose.

Fiberglass, gasoline, and rubber hose is a recipe for a fire ball,
bite the bullet and do it right, put in a replacement steel line.

Some of the braided fuel line that others here used, had problems with gas leaking through the walls of it and leaving a strong gas odor. Steel line is the best, you can get replacements for a reasonable price, but installing them in one piece without lifting the body is hard. You could cut and re-flair it to make a joint at the rear kick up area.

I used a place called Inline Tube for prebent SS fuel lines. Worth it in my book.

So i checked out the fuel line (rubber hose). It is sae30rkx. I researched it and it is fuel line suitable for this application. However i think im just going to run steel lines as best i can, hopefully just 2 pieces 1 join over the run. Even if i end up with 2 joins i think i am far better off with the steel lines. Thanks guys

go with steel.

the 2 rubber hoses I have between the tank and the line itself leaked badly a month ago and scared the s@### out of me!
Fuel dropping on a hot exhaust = fire...

I got really lucky.

2 weeks after the rubber hoses between the filter and the carb did the same...
I was lucky again, no fire.
They all said SAE30...but age and heat does not treat them well.

Needless to say, I am replacing these hoses with proper steel lines asap.

For starters, your brother inlaw is the ultimate " Bubba" , for doing that. You have to replace it with metal lines A.S.A.P
